Fee Protection

You may (or may not!) be aware that from April 2009 HMRC were given more powers to gain physical entry into your offices. They can now visit your business and require access to your tax and accounting records without warning.

HMRC are also under pressure to raise additional revenues from tax enquires and we have certainly seen a rising number of enquiries over the past year which we don’t see diminishing.

We work hard to ensure that all tax returns are completed correctly, limiting the possibility of an enquiry, but many thousands of new investigations are simply selected at random. Even where we review and answer an enquiry and there is no additional tax to pay, we still have to charge for our services.

Our Fee Protection Insurance Service alleviates these concerns and can provide peace of mind. The Service covers our fees in relation to new investigations. This service is backed up by an insurance policy. Technically we are the policyholder and we can make claims under the policy for our professional fees up to a maximum of £100,000 in any one claim.

There is also a free legal helpline which you can call 24 hours a day to obtain advice on all aspects of law that affect your business.
